Episode 177: Beatle Friends, Vol. 2 - Hamish Stuart
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Monday Apr 19, 2021
We return to a series we started (and then forgot about!) last year called Beatle Friends, where we look at people who played a part in group or solo music. In this episode, we look at Hamish Stuart, best known as a member of the Average White Band and for playing with Paul McCartney from ca. 1988-1993. Stuart played on Flowers in the Dirt and Off The Ground, the Unplugged show, and the two big world tours in 1989-90 and 1993. He also played with Ringo's All-Starr Band in 2006, 2008, and 2019. Quite a long and diverse career!

Episode 176: Review of Ringo Starr's new EP, "Zoom In"
Friday Apr 02, 2021
Friday Apr 02, 2021
In this episode, we analyze Ringo Starr's new five-song EP, Zoom In. Was it a good idea for Ringo to release the first of two EPs, or should he have just released an album? What about the many people playing on each song? How do these songs compare to his recent work?
We answer these questions, and discuss the whole EP in detail!

Episode 174: Put Them in the Movies, Vol. 6: "The Hours and Times" (Film Review)
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Thursday Mar 04, 2021
Join us for a discussion of the 1991 film The Hours and Times, starring Ian Hart as John Lennon and David Angus as Brian Epstein. The movie looks at a much-discussed (and debated) trip John and Brian took to Barcelona in April 1963, and imagines what may (or may not) have happened. We thought the film was artfully done and thought-provoking, and worth your viewing time (it's only 60 minutes). An interesting film off the beaten path!
Also, send us your questions for our special 175th episode where we'll answer audience questions. You can ask on our Facebook page, Twitter, or email us at ivegotabeatlespodcast@hotmail.com.

"Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream" as Dave interviews author and professor William Echard (Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada) about his book on psychedelic popular music. Dave and William discuss what psychedelic music is, how you can analyze it using the technique of topic theory, and dig deep into a discussion of the Beatles' psychedelic music.
This may change the way you hear and think about psychedelic music! Here is the link to William's book:
